As the US Senate prepared for a critical vote on the Obama administration's nuclear arms treaty with Russia, Moscow warned legislators not to alter the treaty's terms and the White House stepped up lobbying to have the pact ratified.

I note, sadly, that Lord Nicholas Windsor's remarks about abortion - admirable though they are as far as they go - stop well short of daring to suggest that the present Queen's signing into law of the 1967 Abortion Act was a literally satanic dereliction of duty. (Contrast this spinelessness of hers with the decision of Belgium's King Baudouin to abdicate - however briefly - rather than commit his signature to similarly foul legislation in his own land.)

At least her namesake and ancestor in the 16th century, the judicial murderer of Campion and other saints, did not sanction genocide of children in the womb.
